The activity of the γ-subunit of the phosphorylase kinase is regulated by the α- and β-subunits. This β-subunit fragment inhibits the activity of the γ-subunit-calmodulin complex. The peptide is also a substrate for this complex and may represent a key autoinhibitory sequence of the phosphorylase kinase.
