Custom Cable Assemblies | Multi-Tek

Reliable, durable and all-around high quality cable assemblies are the key to interconnecting your equipment, components and systems for optimum functionality. At Multi-Tek, we build custom cable assemblies for applications where failure isn’t an option — you need guaranteed performance, so we build to those standards.

Our team has manufactured custom cable assemblies for over 20 years, ranging from simple configurations to complex cabling undertakings. We typically work in transportation, electronics, industrial, communication and commercial applications and build to IPC/WHMA-A-620 Class 2 standards, but are continually expanding our ventures into new industries.

We build wire-to-wire and wire-to-board cable assemblies using connectors and crimp terminals from industry leaders like Molex and TE in pitches as small as 1 mm. Our equipment and processes are optimized for a wide range of wire gauges from 28 AWG to 8 AWG. We also stock many different colors of common hook-up wire in a variety of UL Styles and Mil-Spec ratings, as well as a number of jacketed cable types, including coaxial, flat ribbon and multiconductor.

If you’re early in the process, we can help bring your custom cable assembly design to the finish line

Either way, we just need to know:

  • Application description, including environmental and atmospheric conditions
  • Number of circuits required
  • Size limitations
  • Whether the application is signal or power
  • If signal, whether shielding is required
  • If power, what is the overall ampacity requirement

Wherever you’re at in the design process, we’ll work with you to achieve a custom cable assembly design that meets your budget, timeline and performance demands.

  • 100% Functionality

Going beyond sample-based testing, quality control engineers test and inspect all cables

  • ISO, UL and IPC certified

We’re ISO 9001:2015 registered, UL certified and our assemblers are IPC/WHMA-A-620 certified

  • Reasonable minimum order quantities

100 pieces is our standard MOQ, but we may be able to support smaller orders for certain types of assemblies

  • Supply chain visibility

Our Cable Tracker software provides transparency and accuracy throughout your production

  • 99.8% on-time delivery

Standard quotes are completed with three days and standard lead time is three to four weeks

Equipment and tooling capabilities

With a wide variety of automated equipment from industry leaders, you can count on every cut, strip and crimp to be accurate and precise to your specification.

We work with:

  • Wire and cable processing equipment from Schleuniger and Komax
  • Heat shrink, tubing and labeling equipment from Schleuniger, Sheffield and TE
  • Crimp termination equipment from Schleuniger, TE/Amp, AutoSplice, Molex and Astro
  • Crimp tooling, including over 125 high speed applicators and hundreds of hand crimp tools
  • Test and inspection equipment from Cirris and Schleuniger and digital microscope stations

What Multi-Tek doesn’t do

While we are able to manufacture custom cable assemblies for an extensive range of applications, we aren’t equipped for the following:

  • Fiber optic cables
  • Semi-rigid coax
  • Overmolding
  • Flat flexible connectors (FFC)
  • Very large multilegged harnesses requiring harness boards for assembly
  • High speed connectors, such as low voltage differential signal connectors (LVDS)
  • Distributing bulk wire and cable
