Specification:
Note:Cause rogers 5880 material is glass microfi ber reinforced PTFE,so it is easy contractively,so the min line and hole can’t be small,3mil line or 0.15mm hole,it’s difficult to attach.
Rogers 5880 is a PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene)-based composite material filled with ceramic particles. This unique composition provides exceptional electrical and mechanical stability, making it ideal for microwave and high-frequency PCB designs.
Unlike conventional PCB materials like FR-4, Rogers 5880 offers minimal dielectric loss, ensuring signal integrity even at extremely high frequencies. This property is particularly beneficial for designs that require low insertion loss and tight impedance control.
RT/duroid® 5870 and 5880 glass microfi ber reinforced PTFEcomposites are designed for exacting stripline and mi crostrip circuit applications. The randomly oriented microfi bers result in exceptional dielectric constant uniformity. The dielectric constant of RT/duroid 5870 and 5880 laminates is uniform from panel to panel and is constant over a wide frequency range. Its low dissipation factor extends the usefulness of RT/duroid 5870 and 5880 laminates to Ku-band and above.RT/duroid 5870 and 5880 laminates are easily cut, sheared and machined to shape. They are resistant to all solvents and reagents, hot or cold, normally used in etching printed circuits or in plating edges and holes. Normally supplied as a laminate with electrodeposited copper of ½ to 2 ounces/ ft.2 (8 to 70m) or reverse treated EDC on both sides, RT/duroid 5870 and 5880 composites can also be clad with rolled copper foil for more critical electrical applications. Cladding with aluminum, copper or brass plate may also be specifi ed.When ordering RT/duroid 5870 and 5880 laminates, it is important to specify dielectric thickness, tolerance, rolled, electrodeposited or reverse treated copper foil, and weight of copper foil required.
Ask: I have designed power divider in Rogers RT 5880 substrate Now I want to find the substrate for fabrication. Can you help me to quote for us and prototype? Dielectric constant =2.2 Substrate Thickness=0.787mm Conductor thickness =0.018mm
Answer: Yes,please kindly provide us gerber file and relevant requirements,we will ask our engineer check file carefully and quote you
Ask: RT5880 material is so expensive, it is exceed our budget, I wish to know whether i can use any other substrate in place of it and obtain similar results?
Answer: You can try Arlon Diclad880 or Taconic TLY-5 or Nelco NY9220, Check if they are available with the thickness you need. Price from high to low: rogers5880→taconic TLY-5→nelco NY9220→arlon Diclad880
Selecting a circuit material for a high-frequency printed-circuit board(pcb) is generally a trade-off,often between price and performance. However, PCB materials are also selected by two key factors: how well they meet the needs of an end-use application and what kind of efforts is required to fabricate a desired circuit with a particular material. These two factors may not mesh:one material may be well suited for a particular application but may pose challenges in terms of circuit fabrication, and vice verse. There is no foolproof, step by step procedure for selecting a PCB material. But by relying on some tangible guildelines designed to evaluate a material in terms of its suitability for circuit fabrication and for meeting the requirements of an application, the process of selecting a PCB for a particaular application can be simplied.
