Isola PCB Material: A Basic Introduction

Isola PCB Material: A Basic Introduction

Isola PCB is a printed circuit board made of superior materials. Among them, Isola is a leading PCB manufacturer of advanced laminates and prepregs. The Isola PCB materials they provide meet the stringent requirements of PCB suppliers around the world and are suitable for aerospace, automotive, telecommunications, consumer and other fields.

This comprehensive guide provides you with information about Isola PCB material. Whether you are an experienced PCB designer or just a novice looking to learn about Isola PCB material, I hope the following information will be helpful to you.

Introduction to Some Types of Isola PCB Material

Isola is famous for the production of high-performance laminate for printed circuit boards, especially for very low-loss material, such as IS410, FR408, 370HR, IS550H, FR408HR, I-SPEED®, TACHYON® 100G, ASTRA® MT77. Here we would like to introduce a few normally used Isola PCB materials.

370HR Material

370HR laminate is a fabrication by high-performance TG180 FR-4 multifunctional epoxy resin. This Isola PCB material is a unique design for Multilayer PCB (high-speed PCB ) applications that require large heat dissipation performance, reliability and CAF resistance. This material has excellent thermal performance, and the thermal expansion coefficient ( CTE ) is very low. Its machinery, chemistry and moisture-proof performance reach and transcend the traditional FR-4 material.

370HR laminate is used in thousands of PCB designs. It was proven to be the best of the same level material in thermal reliability, CAF performance, easy processing and reliability of sequential lamination design.

IS550H Material

With the rise of the automobile electrification industry, the long-term high-reliability electronic parts and PCB products for automobile electrification are becoming more critical. Therefore, electronic system designers face a significant challenge in achieving long-term high-reliability electronic equipment and PCB products. In this context, IS550H Isola PCB material came to sight. IS550H is an Isola PCB material designed for high-speed, low-loss connections in various applications.

Applications:

This Isola PCB material features very low dielectric constant and tangent loss values, which make it perfect for applications such as RF/microwave antennas, microwave circuits, wireless base stations and other high-frequency designs.

Compared with FR-4 material, the significant improvement of IS550H Isola PCB material is the thermal conductivity, which is 0.70 W / mK, and it can realize the application of embedded radiators.

Advantages:

With excellent electrical performance and superior thermal stability, this Isola PCB material is ideal for telecom and datacom networks and consumer electronics. Moreover, it offers the highest signal integrity and power efficiency level due to its ability to reduce crosstalk between adjacent channels while still providing a wide range of frequencies. The IS550H Isola PCB material also has improved solderability compared to traditional materials, which makes it easier to assemble with hand-soldering tools.

IS550H material can operate at continuous temperatures up to 175 degrees Celsius and meet high thermal cycling requirements ( 2000 cycles are – 40 °C to 175 °C ). Moreover, IS550H has proved that in the situation of minimal spacing ( PTH – PTH) and Z-axis structure, there are 1000 hours of CAF resistance performance in 1500 V.

Some people may think that the processability of IS550H should be complicated. It is not. The processability of this Isola PCB material is comparable to FR-4 material. Isn’t this surprising? With its outstanding electrical performance and cost-effective design, Isola IS550H material is the perfect solution for various applications.

Isola Astra MT77

The development of Isola Astra MT77 copper-clad laminates and dielectric prepreg attracted multiple eyeballs from the electronic industry, especially PCB manufacturers. Astra MT77 materials are low-loss copper-clad laminates and dielectric prepreg materials compatible with FR-4 production technology. Astra MT77 material has excellent physical properties, including a wide working frequency and higher temperature range. Someone may wonder, “Is this Isola PCB material ideal for commercial RF/microwave PCB design a
